Over 2 billion people around the world are working seasonally in agriculture. This means they have no visibility on when or where they will find work, or how long it will last. Over and above, they mostly have no access to benefits or services a full-time employee would expect to receive. These include basic services such as insurance, access to finance, or training to improve their skills and develop their careers. These people are the backbone of the global economy. They are the ones that farm, build and move the products that are essential to our day-to-day lives. When the COVID-19 pandemic struck the world, and many of us found refuge in our homes, they still showed up to work on farms, construction sites, factories and warehouses to provide the food, shelter and products we needed to survive. At Aydi, which means “hands” in Arabic, we are on a mission to empower these 2 billion seasonal teams to find decent work opportunities all year round, get access to essential services such as insurance and finance, and receive training to improve their skills and have a chance at earning a better living. We do so through our platform, which also helps companies source, manage, train and pay their seasonal workforce. We manage the process end-to-end, from connecting them with the right teams, to vetting, training and managing their transportation and payments in a secure and efficient manner. Our vision is to become the enabler for these seasonal workforce by connecting them with better opportunities, and investing in their development and wellbeing. By doing so, we are able to help companies improve operational efficiency, increase workforce productivity and ensure regulatory compliance.
